Bal-A-Vis-X – founded by Bill Hubert
On the surface, Bal-A-Vis-X looks like someone tossing and catching one or more bean bags OR bouncing and catching one or more racquetballs, in specific ways, with specific rhythm, on or off a balance board. It can look like juggling at more advanced levels.
In Bill’s own words from his book,
“ Bal-A-Vis-X (BAVX) consists of multiple thousands of physical, auditory, visual midline crossings in three dimensions, crossings that are steadily rhythmic and auditorily based; their pace the natural outcome of proper physical technique. …enables the entire mind-body system to experience the natural symmetrical flow of a pendulum”
“Resonance: Elise and other Bal-A-Vis-X Stories”:
c 2007, Bill Hubert, ISBN 978-0-9708085-5-4.
1. BAVX is based on the principle of the pendulum.
2. All BAVX exercises r/q multiple midline crossings in 1, 2, or 3 dimensions in steady, rhythmic flow based on auditory cues and precise physical techniques.
3. BAVX requires constant visual tracking and eye-hand coordination with every exercise.
- Also from “Resonance” book – p. 225
A collaborative Speech, Language, OT group noted these benefits from BAVX in individual and group sessions:
Increased visual tracking
Increased eye-hand coordination
Increased proficiency in language processing (oral/written)
Increased auditory processing ability
Increased expressive/receptive language
Increased confidence in working with others
Increased integration of left/right brain which leads to improved creativity/comprehension of verbal/written instruction
Joe has developed a program in which The Listening Program is combined with Bal-A-Vis-X exercises, and he has confirmed on countless clients that brainwave balance improves in dramatic ways with time spent on bean bag and racquetball routines of BAVX. Joe believes that cognitive function is a reflection of proper 360 awareness and function of the visual, auditory, & vestibular systems.
Joe calls Bal-A-Vis-X “the cheapest neurofeedback in town!” ……And it is.
Both Joe and Karel are trained to Level III of the Bal-A-Vis-X coursework.
At the 2008 Listening Program Conference, Joe presented the topic, “From Beanbags to Brainwaves: Combining TLP with Neurofeedback and Bal-A-Vis-X”. A well received talk.
